I don't like Miles Davis, but this mashup is absolute brilliant. I LOVE IT!

Daniel Ricketts 21 Jul 2009 10:16
Briliant stuff!!!

Honestly these are some of the tightest and most interesting mash's i have heard.Even the ones that are completley laughable (thunder busters, and stayin alive, for eg) STILL WORK beautifully.
Some of these tracks, in particular, Whole lotta Sabbath and Disolved sound like they could be original tracks, as made by the original artists themselves.

You are the only DJ / producer i have heard that compares to Z -Trip, and you absolutley leave Girl Talk (as talented as he is) for dead!!

Keep up the awesome work.
Dan

Eroico 08 Jul 2009 00:24
after 20 years of crappy drop-ins and unforgivable sampling... someone (YOU) has finally done it A-FUCKIN-100%-RIGHT!!! I hope you guys can keep cranking them out. The more people are cross-introduced to different music the better for everyone. I wish I was part of your projects!!!

l-unit 02 May 2009 04:33
recently i have had songs in my head that i think would work well together. but the problem is, is that i have no way of doing this. any program i find is hard to work with and i get frustrated. just wondering if you had any tips as to how i can get my thoughts into something real.

Amazing jam Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, congratulations from Brasil!

"I hear it now..."

That track is absolutely brilliant and you are getting a lot better at this. Seriously, it shines out on its own and everyone I've shown it to agrees. Chill as fuck.

Never stop rocking.

AP 15 Mar 2009 12:22
... for the brilliant mashups in Mashopolos 1 and 2. And for the more... how can I say.. frightening mashups of politics and music? Yeah, kind of. Hoping for more.

Kelly Logan 09 Mar 2009 04:38
www.last.fm is a music association site that I've really been enjoying. It lets artists post their music, and I think your stuff would really explode there. Just a thought. Keep up the amazing work, particularly the political material. (I found you through "Imagine this", which still gets me a little choked up every time I hear it.)

DJ GRAVYLEGS 23 Jan 2009 10:43
HEY FELLAS,
I WAS JUST WONDERING WHEN YOUR GONNA DROP SOME NEW MATERIAL THAT MAY POSSIBLY BE ALONG THE LINES AS THE FLOYD, SABBATH/ZEP, THAT KIND OF THING.
MASHUPS ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING, BUT ONLY FEW ARTIST SUCH AS A&D, DJ BC, AND A HANDFULL OF OTHER CONTINUE TO MASH CLASSIC ROCK W/ SOMEWHAT OF A DANCE BEAT(FUNKY,LIKE 85-100BPMS) NOT THE TECHNO SHIT EVERYBODY ELSE IS LEANING TOWARDS.IM 38 YRS OLD AND CAME BACK TO THE GAME OF DJING AFTER A 7 YR HIATIS, AND IF I NEVER HEARD ANOTHER BREAK BEAT OR TECHNO GOOVE AT 150BPMS, IT WOULD BE TO EARLY.BRING THE FUNK AND METAL BACK FELLAS.....IF ANYONE CAN CONTINUE TO "BRING IT" IT YOU,YOUR BLENDS UP TO THIS POINT HAVE BEEN INCRADIBLE.THANKS A MILLION,SEND ME SOME SHIT!!!!

BEST REGARDS,
DJ GRAVYLEGS- PORTLAND,OREGON The beautiful now Obama ran...US of A! hell fuck yes, there is a GOD!

Dude, your work is fricking awesome! The political satires had me in tears. .. So well done. Kudos!
Since hearing of your work i've forwarded to most people i know and they seem to have the same appreciation ( you have a lot of fans out there!)

Lets hope Obama gives you nothing to mash up!. Still cant believe America elected someone with dignity. Thank GWB for that!

Cheers,

Great Work! Igor 06 Jan 2009 15:03
I absolutely love all your stuff - which is quite amazing since I'm more of a indie-alternative-metal fan and generally don't listen to dj remixed music almost at all. Keep up great work, I'm sending link to all my firends.

Just lyrics? Nick 28 Dec 2008 05:38
Do you have copies of these songs that are just lyrics or do you have trouble working around the different instrumental tracks?

Great work Hoggsy 24 Dec 2008 04:37
I have noticed that Girl Talk's album "feed the animals" seems to be appearing in many top ten album lists of 2008. To me the Wax Audio tracks are far more interesting, creative and fun than the Girl Talk albums which sound almost dated by comparison to Wax Audio.

Hope you enjoy success in 2009 and thanks for the music.

Great Stuff Rob 09 Dec 2008 06:25
I love the Mash! I saw music as a photograph and you turned it into a 3-D movie.
Great stuff!

The Music Scott Manson 18 Nov 2008 11:17
There are many mash-up artists out there in Bastard-pop land...However, for me you are clearly the most talented.

The music you produce easily trancends mash and should be considered art.

A move into the mainstream should be guaranteed, classic stuff!

Listening to your work.

Brilliant...

First listened to Mashopolos and found it amusing (especially bollywood Vs metal).
But now listening to your more politically engaged mash-ups.

That IS great. At last a mash-upper (?) who has something to say.

All the best with your work, my friend

REMIXES Pornophony 11 Feb 2008 21:25
Hello Guys, Girls, Producers, Readers and Listeners, the time has come. Starting TODAY at 5 GMT, the first sample of the Indie Pornophonic Remixes will become available. That is, every week, producers globally will take centre stage right here on Pornophony for a head-to-head battle against each other to prove who can craft that beat the best. Anything goes. Remix it any way you want. If you want to go insane, you can.

You'll have exactly a week to remix the released sample song (which will be of 'Indie' origins), with your final touches being finished in a WEEK for a panel of judges to decide a winner and comment on the other submissions.

http://pornophony.blogspot.com

ENJOY!

It's hip. Like digg for music.

Again, I have nothing to do with the site. I'm just trying to get Wax Audio over.

Hunting Bigfoot may tour australia Henderson Alleyne 26 Nov 2006 13:27
I grew up in Perth, and live now in New York City, but heard that a favorite local band of mine, Hunting Bigfoot, is getting a following there through the IAC and are now #22 with one of their singles on the indie charts. I am supposed to be in Sydney to coincide with some of their shows and will be interesting to see Paul Rowan when he's out of the element (they're like a train wreck on stage). I don't know Sydney that well, having only been when I was a kid, and was wondering where the best place to stay to be near the music scene. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, and if anyone's curious, the band releases all their stuff live and 3fn wives is a pretty kerazy track, can download at huntingbigfoot.com...Anyway, let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks. -H

Protected audio files!!! Casie Caller 05 Jul 2006 22:48
Who knows what should be done with protected audio files? A friend of mine adviced me [url=http://www.soundtaxi.info]SoundTaxi[/url] as a converting tool! It removes audio protection from different types of audio files, so u may use your mp3-player as u wish :)
Seems like great one...!
Have u heard anything about it?

Imagine this andrew 07 Jan 2006 01:54
Was talking to this guy in a Cambodian guest house about music and
politics (can anybody hear Michael Franti?) and he asks me to wait a
minute and runs off. He comes back with a mp3 player and some nice
headphones, and asks me to listen to a song, and tells me the first
words I will hear are those of John Lennon.

After the first few sentences by Shrub, tears start to roll. Now I am
with a bunch of other tourists, who I have just met, and want to enjoy
the song, without wondering what they are thinking about my tears so I
go off around the corner to enjoy by myself.

I go back to the table, and explain to the guy who gave me the listen
and it slowly becomes apparent that the creator of this life changing
piece of music is the guy opposite me. We keep talking, and he tells me
about this site, and that I should come over for a rant, feel free to
turn off now.

I listen to a lot of music. I buy very little. New services from the
U.S. like NapsterToGo, and iTunes are symptoms of the recording
industry attempting to keep hold of the rapidly changing music scene. I
hope they fail.

iTunes will sell you a song for USD$0.99, ripped at 129 kbps, not very
good. This makes an album of 15 songs nearly USD$15, and the suckers
are lining up,as the companies line their pockets.

Think about the infrastructure needed to get a CD to your home via the
traditional route.

There is a factory to make the CD, and print the stuff on the front of it.
Another to make the case.
Another to print the cover stuff.
Transport to the next factory.
That factory where they put these things together.
Transport from there to the warehouses around the world.
Transport to the shop from there
The shop.
All of these also have high wage bills.

Dont forget the artists profit, small enough.
And of course dont forget the company profits.

Now you can see where the cost of a CD comes from (as if you didnt know this already).

But these fvckers are selling you a low quality data file at the same
price. And their only overhead is the big warehouse full of computers,
the fibre optic line, and the cost of processing such massive profits.

Fvck them.

So where to?

Most rips available on P2P suck, though some are good.
allofmp3.com (a Russian site) will sell you an album ripped at 192 kbps
(or other bitrates, and in many codecs) at USD$0.02 per mb, about
USD$1.20 per album, and I bet they are making heaps.

I am hoping that artists who, unlike Tom, insist on making money from their music start selling it themselves. It would be easy enough for them to do via PayPal, but maybe a collective approach might be more workable. Imagine a place where you buy some credit, then all artists can submit their music, and you download it for a nominal price. Enough to cover the transaction costs, and, what, say USD$0.10 per track for the artist? Bet thats more than they make now?

But whatever system you support, make sure the present controlling fvckers dont win.

Imagine Richard McKinnon 18 Oct 2005 17:20
On Tuesday night here in LA a couple of comments were posted about WaxAudio and his song Imagine,on our website www.Perceptric.com (a site that refelcts our business advising companies about change, convergence, technology and strategy issues. in teh US, Australia and Asia.

Essentially, on Perceptric, we write and talk about the things we see happening that are shaping change or just are change in action.

So we wrote about mashing and highlighted tom's song here;
http://www.perceptric.com/blog/_archives/2005/9/14/1224809.html.

Then we bookmarked both the WaxAudio website and Imagine.
http://www.perceptric.com/blog/_archives/2005/9/14/1225582.html

Yesterday, I noticed we were getting a lot of extra traffic, particularly out of London.

The reason? The London Observer, part of The Guardian newspaper group had linked to us, and then to Imagine, through us. They had done so barely hours after our post.

More global audience!

Just imagine, to hear Bush sing this song that is all about peace. Although I heard it, I still can't believe that I could ever hear those words come out of his mouth. Our radio station here in Montreal (CHOM) just played it and then gave out the link. I will send this link to all my friends who are also very anti-Bush.
Way to go Wax Audio for putting all this music together. You have done an absolutely fantastic job in showing just what a hypocrite Bush really is!!!!!!!

GOING TO WAR Mark 25 Aug 2005 21:39
G'day,

Tom and I were chatting recently and he asked me to post some personal thoughts here. Why? I am posting them because Tom said this to me:

"Are you heading to Iraq? You must surely realise that my tracks are largely inspired by my vehement opposition to the war over there and Australia's involvment. I'm curious to know what attracts you to it?"

Well, his work attracts me because it carries a message in an amusing and eloquent way that cleverly uses the propaganda in counterpoint to the intended message. I don't know anyone that has not heard 'Imagine this' once and not enjoyed and remembered it.

Now the going to war bit. I have previously served in various countries on duty but only Afghanistan as a war zone [Bougainville didn't really count]. In Afghanistan I helped rid the country of mines and booby traps so the refugees could return to their lands and villages - very rewarding stuff [morale high ground, etc]. But, I have now be warned-out to go to Iraq - to war.

Will I go? Of course. As Tom quickly appreciated, and before I expressed it, it would be unethical for me to refuse. Iam a profession military officer. [Insert diatribe about honour and duty here.] Think of the part of the marriage vow - 'for better or for worse'. The military equivalent is 'ours is not to reason why'. As a professional officer my oath and my commission are my word. Ah, stop there! We have the power to refuse unlawful orders and we are well educated in the Laws of Armed Conflict.

Do I believe what I have been told about the why we went to war? No, one man's cynicism is another man's reality [with apologies to Parcelsus].

Do I believe we should have gone to war with Iraq? No, there are plenty of other accused despots - even some that haven't been supplied arms by the USA, I think. No one has the right to meddle in the internal affairs of another country and who could honestly believe that Iraq was a threat beyond its borders?

Where to from here? The coalition was totally unprepared to transition into the follow-on 'security and stability operations' and, the reality that history teaches us is that local problems require local solutions. The USA has a history of quickly losing interest, and whether they go sooner or later the internal power struggle will only be resolved when the locals sort it out themselves - it has been going on for a while now, a least since Iraq was created just after WW I.

So, I'll go. I'll perform my duty and my mission to the very best of my abilities and hope I will have helped in some small way. My fear is not for me but my wife and two young children should something happen to me either physically or pyschologically.

Tom, do you think that will prompt some discussion? I hope so. I'll let you know if my security clearance is revoked in the morning!

Cheers.

Freedom of speech fred durin 24 Aug 2005 16:20
If you lived in Iraq when Saddam ruled, you wouldn't even be allowed to make a video like that. You would be exterminated by him.

Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, but none of us would have that freedom if we didn't fight for it.

People think that Bush is the only one behind the war. The fact is that every troop who died there, died fighting for thier freedom, your freedom, and that of the Iraquis.

So what do you do with your freedom? Oppose those who are protecting it for you?

I'm from New Zealand - possibly the most peace loving nation in the world, but I value my freedom, and I will continue to honor those who are protecting it for me.

Re Imagine This Carl 21 Aug 2005 21:46
Tom
Don't usually use forums as they just seem to turn into mindless slagging off, but here goes.
"Had to open up the bruise to let the bruise blood come out to show them.'
Yeah really like the tracks, cept Track 5, cause I hate that stadium rock thing.
Not totally anti Iraq war but feel people should remain antiwar as it stops politicans from starting more. Yeah I know that doesn't make sense, but nothing is really cut and dryed.
Sure a lot of it is about oil.....I can except that......oil=power......and I would rather Saddam didn't have a big chunk of it.
Anyhow love the slagging you give to Alan The parrot Jones and Hadley. Or they give themselves. Just wonder did he say "fucking Aborigines" or did you splice the 2 words together? And if he did what was the rest of the sentence?
Also wondering what sort of equipment you use to put it all together.

iMagine ......... Trevor 20 Aug 2005 22:44
if the Cindy Sheehan protestors got hold of this and some PA gear down there at Crawford?

I read about it in the SMH. Very impressed.

just heard "Imagine" on the Mike Malloy Show on AirAmerica radio. my compliments and gratitude to whoever did that.

Hope Michael 20 Aug 2005 05:32
As an Aussie living in the USA it drives me absolutely mad that the media here plays the (Republican) party line all the time, and anyone who speaks out against the war or the President is dismissed as a "Liberal" or "Un-American". So many here are just so f**king ignorant, and happy to stay that way as long as they can afford their petrol and their toys and their substance of choice...

Thank You Wax Audio, and all who contributed. "Imagine This" gives me hope. I am spreading the word (and the music).

Imagine this john lagerlow 17 Aug 2005 12:40
You are a visionary. I love you man.

JJJ Michael 16 Aug 2005 13:17
I heard 'Imagine This' on Triple J.

It made me cry.

I was so impressed, I downloaded both 'Mediacracy' and 'WMD...and other distractions', to be further impressed.

Let me say this now, on behalf of those suffering similar frustration with the current state of political affairs.

Thank you.

Heroes Clinton 04 Aug 2005 11:11
In today’s society there are many people branded as heroes. But not many have the same courage to stand up and be counted. Totally inspiring. Keep giving to them make a noise and they will hear.

Great Work Stubbers 02 Aug 2005 10:13
Awesome work, might I suggest a fully operational forum though, maybe phpBB... To allow people to have a conversation, your work is very inspiring...

Heard ‘imagine this’ on triple j… thank you! It’s been a long time since I felt tears role down my face.

Where can we send donations?

Monsta 21 Jul 2005 00:09
'Imagine This' could almost be called 'If Only....'

That is SUPERB mate, love your work. Just got put onto your website. Living in Ireland - half of Dublin now looking at it and listening to your tunes.

Keep it up, maybe 'they' might even listen......we certainly will.

Medea 02 Jun 2005 04:34
Wow. This is some amazing work... your efforts and skill really shine!
Like most of the others here, I heard 'Imagine This' on Triple J's super request show. I love the irony! I'm glad there are still people like you (and your fans!) in this world who aren't blinded by politics and propaganda. Keep it up, this rocks!

Shae 02 Jun 2005 03:50
Hi I heard Imagine this on Triple J and thought it was awesome. Love everything else too. We need to get this stuff in the charts so people wake up to themselves!

supafly hamster 21 May 2005 02:02

JOO ROXOORS DUDE

no but seriously, youve done a brilliant job here, keep it up

Ben Malina 20 May 2005 02:22
"Imagine" is awesome - also your other work (particularly the children overboard stuff).
Imagination and creativity are a powerful duo - thanks for bustin through & reaching into my head and helping me to imagine a better world (just imagine if "our" "world leaders" would actually think & talk like this - actually actively pursue peace! They don't speak for me - but you do!)

Thanks for giving inspiration and rekindeling my thirst for revolution - a wonderfull use of a technology I am usually so suspicious of, ... (technology is so commonly missused)

Keep up the good work

versiononepointzero 19 May 2005 14:46
First of all. Your producing some great tracks here. Ive never been an artist who used samples and I have always thought people who produce with samples are "Untalented", but my friend you are something different.
Now, secondly. Please listeners.. Why Triple J...? Please, there is some amazing music on local stations, like FBI 94.5 (in Sydney).. Retune your dial.... 94.5
"Imagine This" MojoMan 15 Apr 2005 04:45
I, too, heard "Imagine This" on triplej, and liked what I heard so much I downloaded everything you have on offer. Never d/loaded an mp3 before tonight and I've exceeded my d/l limit, but it's worth it! Keep 'em coming!

More Power To You!

Great stuff

I'll hold back on the superlatives Darryl Snow 06 Apr 2005 02:24
I'll hold back on the superlatives and condense it all into a big thank you for what you have created. Brilliant stuff and much appreciated from someone who was blissfully unaware that the tracks existed. I came across this whilst searching for mp3s of Howard and Bush speeches to add to footage I have of the anti war marches that our union participated in. The education process just got that much more easy and that much more compelling for firies thanks to your work.I'll send ya a DVD when its done

PS from what I read here it seems Jay and the Dr have been censored along with every other opinion leader that dont talk the right talk. Tragic

heard you on FBi 94.5 Ricky Pannowitz 05 Apr 2005 18:59
This is some of the most inspiring work I have heard, as a producer/artist myself I was blown away, your passion and social concience is incredable. I heard Imagine on FBI who also supported a track I did called BoB Brown sampling the Bush Visit. My artist name is Dimentagon If I help in any way, remixes whatever let me know.
Please keep up the great work brother this is magical stuff, ceribral, funny and touching.
